How To Feel Good With Scoliosis
I don’t often write about scoliosis and my spinal fusion because I have known no different for the last 35 years. I know I have it, I know that it inhibits some movement and it causes some pain. However, it hasn’t kept me from living life and feeling good a majority of the time. As I head into perimenopause though, I do notice more pain and stiffness and the scoliosis “alarm bell” rarely goes off in my head. More often than not, I attribute it natural aging. I could be naive and maybe it does have more of a connection to my scoliosis than I realize.
With all that being said, these are my holistic health tips to feeling good with scoliosis:
Eat a whole foods diet. This means, eliminate the processed and ultra processed foods from your pantry and choose the perimeter foods: quality meats (grass-fed organic when possible), eggs, real butter, dairy, and your fresh produce (ideally from the local farmers market or better yet, your backyard).
Drink fresh spring water, or invest in a quality water filter.
Meditate or sit in silence.
Move every single day. Walk 10,000-15,000 steps daily.
Get outside, with as few clothes as possible, everyday and soak in the sunshine.
Strength train with weights.
Find a Pilates reformer class for a strong core.
Stretch.
